Cyber Security Work Experience at SEP2
Cyber security work experience is more than just a week in the office. It’s a chance to explore the real-world impact of technology, meet passionate people, and get inspired about what’s possible. At SEP2, we’re proud to offer hands-on experiences that reflect our motto: tech driven, people powered. We believe in creating space for young people to learn, ask questions, and grow. Our values – honesty, passion, and a commitment to doing good – guide everything we do, from our day-to-day work to initiatives like Cyber Schools and our apprenticeship scheme.
In this blog, one student shares what it was like to spend time with our team and how the experience helped shape their thinking about the future.
My Background
My name is Jamie Price, I’m 17 years old and about to begin my final year of A Levels in London. I have two brothers aged 19 and 14. Outside of my academic studies, I’m passionate about sports, especially football and mixed martial arts, which I enjoy both watching and participating in during my free time to stay active and motivated.
Why I Chose SEP2 for My Cyber Security Work Experience
I chose SEP2 for my work experience because it provided a valuable opportunity to get a foot in the door at a respected cyber security company. I have a strong interest in both technology and sales, and SEP2 offers the ideal environment to explore these areas. My dad recommended the company to me, and I was particularly drawn to their apprentice programme, which supports career development and offers a clear path into the cyber security industry.
My First Impressions of SEP2
SEP2 is a fast-growing, driven company with a welcoming environment and a strong balance of professionalism and inclusivity as well as a a positive, engaging atmosphere that fostered both learning and collaboration from the outset. The team was very welcoming, inclusive, and clearly passionate about the work they do.
Looking Ahead
My hopes for the future are to achieve excellent grades in my A Levels, laying a strong academic foundation for my career. I would also like to secure a degree apprenticeship with a company in either cyber security or the automotive industry, combining hands-on experience with academic learning. Finally, I would like to continually develop both technical and soft skills through real-world opportunities, with the aim of becoming a well-rounded professional.
Cyber security work experience should leave students feeling energised, informed, and excited about what comes next. At SEP2, we aim to create an environment where curiosity is encouraged and learning happens through real collaboration. It’s always a privilege to welcome young people into the business and see them grow in confidence as they explore the world of cyber security. We hope this cyber security work experience gave a meaningful glimpse into the industry and helped spark ideas for the future.
