Engineering Team Lead


Primary Function: 

The Engineering Team Lead is primarily responsible for all MDR services and those within the Onboarding and Account Engineering team.

There can be flexibility for the right candidate around the working location, this can be based from our Leeds office or the opportunity to work remotely with regular trips to Leeds when required is also an option.

Main Tasks:

  • Supporting the learning and development of the Engineers delivering the Wingman MDR service
  • Gathering metrics on the Engineers with the mind of resource allocation and how to use the teams most effectively
  • Reporting metrics and ideas for improving the team and its autonomy to the Security Operations Manager and Service Owners
  • Conducting Personal Development Plans with the support of the People Team
  • Hosts regular catch-ups with the Engineers to ensure the successful delivery of the Wingman MDR service
  • Managing leave requests and workforce planning including the management of the on-call rota
  • Forecasting skillsets and availability with the idea of ensuring resource is available to support new customers and projects
  • Collaborating with the Technical Leaders to support the successful resource utilisation delivery of cross-team deployments
  • Technically involved in delivering projects and deployments within the Wingman MDR service
  • Support with the design of the engineering teams to produce positive outputs for the Wingman MDR service

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Proven experience of delivering positive outcomes in a customer facing SOC role
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Cyber SOC Engineer or 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Background knowledge in other IT disciplines (e.g., Public Cloud, Linux, Windows Server, Networking)
  • Exposure to, and some experience with, scripting tools such as Powershell, Python, Bash, and RESTful API’s (Application Programming Interfaces). 
  • Exposure to data manipulation (e.g., Regular Expression, JSON)
  • Experience with SIEM and SOAR solutions, Google SecOps is desirable
